Mamas, as the school year comes to an end, I want to encourage you to evaluate your mindset surrounding your children this summer.
The devil wants you to believe that these precious gifts from God are a burden and because of that you have every right to complain about them to your friends and family. The devil wants you to count down the days until your kids are back in school so you can “have your life back.” He wants you to call them foul and vulgar names in the name of being “relatable.”
But what if you changed the narrative? What if instead of impatiently counting down the days until they are back in school, you counted all the amazing and wonderful qualities about your children and then made a list of all the wonderful things you want to do WITH them each day? What if you looked at each day as an opportunity to walk out your calling as a mother to train and disciple your children in the ways of the Lord? Instead of seeing summer as 2+ months of torture, what if you viewed it as 2+ months filled with joy and love and excitement and time spent loving your kids well? My how your days would change for the better!
You only have a short time as the direct and main influence in their lives. Don’t try to rush through the days because you think there’s something better on the “other side” or in a few months. You are living in the BEST DAYS NOW and you will never get them back. Live this summer well! Wake daily and thank the Lord for the precious blessings they are and thank Him for the wonderful day you will have together.
There’s power in the words we speak, the thoughts we think, and the attitude we have towards our children. If you speak and think and act like they are a burden they will begin to believe they are a burden and not important to you. But if you think and speak and act like they are the precious blessings from the Lord that they truly are, they will thrive and see themselves as worthy and Valuable and their attitudes will reflect that.
"Behold, children are a heritage from the LORD, the fruit of the womb a reward. Like arrows in the hands of a warrior are children born in one's youth. Blessed is the man whose quiver is full of them; they will not be put to shame when they contend with their opponents in court." Psalm 127:3-5
Mamas let us honor our children by speaking well of them AT ALL TIMES and by treating them with the kindness and respect that blessings from God deserve. When you shift your mindset and view each day as a gift that you GET TO spend time together, I promise each day will feel so rich. You will be rich!
