A few weeks ago I was in the dressing room at a local store. There was a sweet older lady in there who was everyone’s hype woman! She was waiting on a friend but every time someone else came out from trying on clothes she told them how beautiful they looked and that they should get whatever they were wearing. It was the sweetest thing. The atmosphere in the dressing room was happy and cheerful and full of joyful noise…until it wasn’t.
A group of women walked in and immediately the atmosphere shifted. They were loudly and repeatedly cursing out the “smell” in the dressing room. The rest of the dressing room fell silent.
For a moment I was caught off guard by the sudden shift in atmosphere and felt annoyed that they were ruining a wonderful few moments, but then I realized what was happening. Whatever unclean spirit these woman were carrying was greatly disturbed by the joy that was radiating through the dressing rooms.
I took a moment and prayed in the spirit and commanded those foul spirits to be quiet and immediately they stopped and didn’t speak again for the remainder of the time these women were in there. The atmosphere shifted and it was immediately back to the joy filled cheerful atmosphere it had been just moments before.
When you are walking in alignment with Christ, you have the power and authority in Christ to shift the atmosphere wherever you are. You do not have to put up with being in a place where the atmosphere is heavy and dark.. You have been given authority in Christ to “trample snakes and scorpions and to overcome all the power of the enemy; nothing will harm you.” Luke 10:19 Will you wield that authority? Will you be an atmosphere shifter?
